Invent, create and design!
Purpose
Imagine that you can create new things out of something
that already exists – and maybe even benefit from it.
Imagine being a designer or an inventor coming up with
the greatest ideas.
Once you do this task, your brain will be able to see new
possibilities in the future.
Here you practice how to get good ideas and how to train
your eye into seeing new opportunities.
Challenges for you will no longer be problems in the future
– you know how to find alternative solutions.
Task
- Select 5 items from your room and try to find a new
function for each of them. E.g.:
The hanger in your closet = a frisbee or if
it is made of metal, it can be shaped into a heart. - Do a brainstorm for each item.
- Draw your new ideas.
- Select two of your ideas.
Combine these two ideas into yet another product.
Imagine, that you put together your metal shaped heart
with a t-shirt that you have cut into pieces and made braids of.
Now you can hang your heart on the braided strips and
make a necklace or a keychain.
You can probably come up with lots of fun ideas
– only the imagination sets the limit.
Test yourself!
- Ask your parents to choose 3 things from your home.
- Set the clock to 2 minutes.
- Write down all your new product ideas for these 3 items.
How many ideas did you come up with? - Repeat the exercise again and see if you increase the number of ideas.
